This seems to be the picture since the election.

America calling around the world saying " I have these attractive values, we share them, right? no one would dislike them, surely, and I have these weapons and troops and security at your disposal, but let s share the cost to be fair, and by the way all those chinese deals are rubbish and they will cheat you out of your shirt and pants, and have you heard? They do genocides. Yes. For 60, 70 years now. Yes. We just found out. Evil so and so. Bad business. do you really want to trade with someone like that? Surely not.

China s calling around the world saying "I have these markets and trades to negotiate with you, as long as u leave politics out of it".

As a stand alone fresh race between the 2, I d say it s even. America has a lot of goodwill and benefit of the doubt on its side. That s worth Trillions. But the disadvantage of America now is that its message is very very old, used for too long, and over the years has increasingly been producing mixed outcomes (to say the least) for others.

The advantage of China is that everyone has indeed benefited tangibly, passively or actively, willingly or unwillingly, from Chinese development over the last few decades, especially the capital owning elite in most countries, rich or poor.

What I'm saying is, the value + security approach ain't gonna do it, there needs to be a credible, tangible, Trade&Development vision and plan!

The America First + My Big Corporates and Standards or You Are Out (My Way or the Highway) message falls somewhat short of that.
