Just a small caveat to add. Chinese consumers are far more open than Japanese ones. By nature and by necessity, they simply love Western made goods, including cultural ones. That can make a huge difference to how things develop between east and west. I d say as Long as Chinese consumer mkt is open (to the extent sufficient not to the extent desired), and as Long as capitalist principles are still allowed to operate in the West (ironically), foreign capital and businesses would find the market pretty much irresistable. Chicom knows it. Whether they can keep that advantage by controlling their control-freak urges is the key.
That human factor (re Chinese consumers) is what ll make a huge difference to future development of world trade and commerce. It s a reason to be optimistic, heavily tempered by geopolitics.
