I don't think it's a big revlation that Tik Tok would ultimately report back to Zhang Yiming and the Beijing office. Tik Tok of course is owned by Bytedance. From Day 1 Zhang had the vision to create a social media platform that would achieve worldwide success and for him to create two ecosystems (抖音 for domestic fans) and Tik Tok for the rest of the world was genius. How much of this is fearmongering and anger from US authorities simply because a Chinese company figured out social media better than Facebook or another US based social media company?
