My favorite trick is asking them a question so I can get their permissible talking point from the media, and then asking them the same question phrased differently to hear them spout another pre-approved answer.

What it proves is they aren't listening and/or couldn't tell you a real answer because they don't even recognize the questions, as unique, but both asking the same thing.
