Oh, the fear porn worked here, but to dramatically different degrees in different places. It tracks like our child vaccine rates. Where over 50% of kids 5-11 have had useless jabs, the population is largely gullible sheep. Less than 25% the population is highly suspect of government. The in between are in between.

Having guns doesn’t necessarily mean idiots won’t be scared into compliance with fear porn. I don’t have a way to treat that, I simply refuse to join in.

Where the fear porn worked best there is a high correlation to anti-gun and pro-government attitude prevalence in the population.

It’s the same people screaming for more dead Eastern Europeans and starving Africans because they think the worst possible outcome is that all of Europe will be obliterated in a “small” nuclear war. Since that “probably won’t” happen, they think it’s worth the “risk” to your country, and lots of starving Africans, for us to send billions in US arms to the last dead Ukrainian, because “Putin bad.” This only months after we handed over more arms to the Taliban than some European armies have in their entire military.
