When the BLM riots broke out causing curfews in some US cities, I was with my family at a wide open resort with no masks in Hilton Head SC. We traveled throughout, including to the Caribbean (and we are all unvaccinated). In moderate NC we never had vaccine passports. NC based companies typically didn’t even try imposing vaccine mandates. We stopped wearing a mask a couple weeks after we started and never looked back.

My kids go to private school, so they were in school full time the whole time except the initial April/May 2020. We lived normally. People got grumpy we refused to wear masks at the grocery store, but nobody ever enforced anything. NC is moderate - not nearly as nuts as NY/ CA, but nuttier than SC, GA, FL, TX, TN, etc.

Our public school children were destroyed. Public schools stayed closed close to a year in the urban counties. Masks came off our public school children only in late March and early April of THIS year. Local preschools are still putting them on toddlers.

Our restrictions ranged from nonexistent to like London - on adults. They way we treated our children was abhorrent, and cruel, and incredibly destructive. The folks I talk to in London get physically sick when they hear about what was done to children here - and schools stayed closed long after bars were wide open and the Covid abuse of children here was far more widespread than adult restrictions. 😩
