And for that, you can thank the neoliberal austerity agenda that began in the 1990s. It was death by a thousand austerity cuts, with healthcare being the softest target of all. Prior to that, the system was at least as good as any in the rich world.

Same thing happened in the UK as well. Neoliberalism seems to have the reverse Midas touch everywhere it is tried, sooner or later.
