Let me post a different view regarding US policy, containment and strategic intent. It is that China has many legitimate strategic concerns that the US needs to recognize as legitimate strategic concerns. This is a country that cannot feed itself without importing food from abroad. This is a country that is not energy independent. This is a country where much of the intermediate technology it depends on is licensed or imported (semi conductors are the most topical example, but it is much deeper). And this is a country surrounded by a US led defense alliance that can limit access to international markets through closing down sea lanes. The perception of the G7 "ganging up" on China has factual roots as China has many vulnerabilities.
