"The 1980s and 90s were without war." I do not agree. Ask the thousands of people who died in Libya, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, Columbia and Panama to just name a few. Those "covert wars" were just much better hidden from the public. Americans were so absorbed in consumption of cocaine and sex that they just turned a blind eye to the horrors of the CIA, NSA and US Government in general.
