Agreed, LC. The current dynamic on the US side is Wall Street and the big corps with China profits prevent the US from doing anything serious, and in return make a lot of money, and Xi tries to cement pro-China narratives internationally and lock countries and international institutions into pro-China/subservient states, so unless the US is actually going to do something, what would there be to talk about?
Jason, what specific "legitimate dialogue" would the meeting foster? What would they talk about? And what sorts of things would, say, the US side hope China better "understands"? It seems like all words at this point from the US, paper tiger huffing and puffing as Bill has said.
