There is a public consultation going on now to ask Canadians to weigh in on a proposal that would lead to the establishment of a foreign agents registry. canada.ca/en/services/d… I don't doubt that we will get something... but never underestimate the ability of the "we know what's best for you" elites in Canada's political firmament to do the bare minimum when it comes to things that seem (to them, anyway) to be unnecessary. Politics also has something to do with it. The Prime Minister has (repeatedly) attacked those who have raised questions about his government's approach to past claims of interference by foreign powers (mostly China) by suggesting that by raising such questions they were fomenting racism.
