Everyone has been hoarding reserves ever since the pandemic has revealed how fragile global supply chains can be. And guess who holds more grain, gold, and oil reserves than China does? The US. Does that mean the US has been preparing for massive land invasion of its neighbors in the past century? Of course not.
I'm not arguing against the risk for a Taiwan invasion specifically, I'm lambasting your original section afterwards that presents some war-porn scenario of China vs. the rest of the world, which is not going to happen, lest at the unnecessary cost of millions of lives. And for what? A complete desolation of a continent and decades of social and infrastructural reset? China's not Germany in the 1930s, it has a strong economy and a satisfied populace. Completely risking that by initiating WW3 is about the worst decision a nation can make at this point.
