It seems the word containment is mostly being used in a very hypothetical sense; the reality is that - unlike during Cold War I - there is no “first world” and “second world”, only a global economy that will be massively disrupted as policies of disengagement are pursued by China and the West. Sadly, this is looking increasingly inevitable.
