Re DiDi etc. I am surprised that the BVI scheme lasted this long. I never understood why Chinese companies had to go abroad to list (apart from giving early investors like Naspers and Softbank an off-ramp and capital flight opportunities). The idea that there isn't a deep well of capital in China is ridiculous. Look at the savings rates and the go-go property markets. Whilst I don't expect everyone to be a retail investor, I think that there's an unmet need in ETFs and pension funds who could invest and hold these stocks.
