I honestly think the Vitamin D thing is oversold, especially as a supplement. People have lived at northern latitudes forever and have adapted to this fact by eating cold water fish in the winter. Low Vitamin D usually means you haven't gotten enough sun during the spring/summer/fall and/or you don't have enough cholesterol in your diet. Also the healthy Vitamin D ranges were upped significantly about ten years ago and they never look at active, only storage.
