There is more decoupling from the China side than from the US side. Enterprise software is effectively blocked in China, complex systems integration is severely restricted. China never really wanted foreigners in China and their technology development and the pandemic have accelerated that trend. as for becoming poorer vis a vis China...how so? coming off a lower base with a larger population, China's closing the gap on the with the US is inevitable. With 2 million STEM grads a year and roughly the same risk capital base as the US and a larger consumer market, it is inevitable that China close the innovation gaps...
where are the gaps that shouldn't close just because of economic scale and demographics? those are the things we should be watching for.
