You claim that it's impossible to have these conversations with people who don't share your specific set of definitions. Of course we don't because we didn't go to school at the same time or in the same place you did. Some of us learned economics and finance by reading whatever books we were able to find on the subject. My background is in math, so I don't know your specific terminology. You make the pedantic assumption that people who don't know your specific definitions are ignorant and therefore not to be considered in the discussion. What I am saying about pedantry is that it does not add anything to the discussion, but rather shows that one's primary goal is to convince that you're smarter and more educated than others simply because you have learned specific words. That isn't working. If you want to show people how smart you are then stop parroting set phrases from your classroom and explain what you mean in a way that a podiatrist or a mechanic can understand. Generally the purpose of jargon is to exclude people who are not members of your specific group from the discussion as unworthy to participate. It IS insulting. Nobody is impressed. Nobody likes it.
