Over the next six months my wife has at least 5 new arrivals from China, all middle-class/professional class folks, looking to first rent housing near a child's school and ultimately to purchase a home.
That's hardly new, but it's new to folks of this level of economic means; it's creeping further and further down the income spectrum. They're making serious sacrifices to set up a back-up life here in the US, whereas historically it's been the folks who need not sacrifice anything.
That's a worrying, albeit highly anecdotal, data point.
