Anti-vaccination sentiment is not unique to the US. Stories about supposedly vaccine-related deaths constantly circulate on traditional and social media in Taiwan. Not just directed at the AZ (AstraZeneca) vaccine, the first available in Taiwan, but even at Moderna. The stories seem to have little basis. Some even conflate the number of deaths from COVID-19 (847 total since early 2020) with the number of deaths "caused" by vaccines. Some people believe the stories. That's the cost of true democracy and freedom of speech. But as the vaccination shortages ease the vaccination rate is rising.
