Call this the Bukele Argument.

El Salvador was so completely ruled by gangs and so miserably unfree for the rest of society that the most liberty-improving act possible was "lock up all the gangsters indefinitely, without trials." In theory, that's a very anti-libertarian act, but in practice, the overall liberty in the country improved massively.

Libertarians everywhere should remember the lesson. The missing piece of a forever-minority ideology must be the willingness to fight evil in proportion to its threat instead of whining about the "lesser of two evils".
