Yea, but when the batteries freeze, you have a big issue. Heat makes the reaction go too fast, but cold can keep it from happening fast enough to work at all. Saying this as a person who lived in MN for a while, and had a car battery freeze solid and had to pray it was warmed up enough and wouldn't explode while I tried to charge it and start my car :)
