I related question always is: is China truly concerned about environmental impacts? I'm not convinced. It seems to be forever willing to pollute its ground and water for the sake of profit and short-term economic gain. A bit cynical on my part, but there's a possibility that even the higher-ups in the CCP are looking to get what they can while the gettin's good.
