I have been reading Churchill's memoirs of WWII. The opening volume, The Gathering Storm, speaks of the willingness, indeed the commercial urgency, within England, France, Sweden, the States and others to continue trade with Nazi Germany in the run-up to the war, and so funded the Reich's military build-up. After all, Hitler's Germany was good, well, for business. The parallels are instructive -- though not necessarily determinative -- and frightening.
