Miles W. Mathis made some interesting observations about Fidel Castro.

Castro's father was a wealthy sugar cane farmer. His ancestors were Marrano Jews of Spanish descent, although Castro himself was Catholic, and he received a Jesuit education. He was an actor, and appeared in Hollywood movies as an extra. His first wife, Mirta was the son of Rafael Diaz-Balart, an attorney, politician and one of Cuba's wealthiest men. Mirta's father allegedly disapproved of the marriage, but nevertheless gave the couple an expensive honeymoon in New York.

Mathis thinks that the Diaz-Balarts were related to the Batista family, but the only connection I could verify is that Mirta's brother was one of Batista's officers.

Describing a long string of inexplicable incidents of the Cuban civil war, Mathis concludes: "Castro rose to power in 1959 not because he won any battles but because he was picked by the US to head the puppet-government in Cuba."
