Except that the Holy Land had been Christian until the Arab invasion. The Crusades could very easily be seen as an attempted reconquest to expel the Arab imperial settler colonialists- even if none of those terms were meaningful in the Middle Ages. It depends perhaps on where you choose to begin your timeline.
