David was a brilliant professor and a dear friend. The strain imposed on him by the mob was horrific and entirely unjustified. Throughout his ordeal he maintained his dignity and sought only to continue teaching students. He was a superb teacher and was unwilling simply to take his salary and avoid work. Brock failed him, us and all its principles. He died peacefully, loved and respected by his family and his many friends. Ave atque vale.
