And also, to be conspiratorial why is the PRC upping its imports and state reserves of everything from metals to grains? Never before in modern human history have we seen a commensurate military buildup if not in preparation for war. Maybe Beijing really does need all that military hardware to protect itself, but from whom? And if they were invested in protection they would be building less aircraft carriers and flat tops and just investing in their historic deterrent of more missiles. The military guys and Western Capitals are seeing this information but it's not being widely shared yet. I bet more of this becomes public over the coming two years.
