If you asked 1000 Americans (USA) where Yemen is; they would look at you with a blank stare. The odds are better that they would be able to find Gaza on a map, but not by much. The dumbing down of education, particularly in Geography, results in news reports that mean little to them even IF they read the news. History education is also lacking.
