Not at all surprised to see 小粉红 celebrating Abe’s assassination, but it was a bit jarring to see Global Times immediately trying to make hay out of it in a tweet storm. (They deleted some of the nastiest, but nothing ever really goes away.) Like Abe or not as a politician, every Japanese is rocked to the core by his assassination, and media under control of the Party rushing to spike the football will harden feelings in a way that does not seem to me to serve China’s interests.
