while i certainly understand the argument and history is mostly on your side on that one, i'm less sure. with so much data in the air and so many folks about to be in real trouble and so many international defectors possible as EU countries do the work, there's a real prisoner's dilemma here and the dominant strategy is to defect.

as regimes change in both the EU and US and the new folks start to push for the answers, those with survival instincts will pivot. it's their low energy path.
