I agree with your points 龍瑞. Well put. Further to this, one of the ways the CCP enfranchised and grew a stable middle class was during the 90s and 20s when the SOE were being reformed. Many people at that time were able to buy at low cost the housing they were renting from the SOEs (similar to Singapore's Housing Development Scheme). This enfranchised a large component into the middle class.

While China no doubt benefited from entering the international trading system, so too did the rest of the world. I would add that China did not have a "minsky moment" like the Russians economic collapse in the early 1990s. This greatly benefited the world as China absorbed demand with low cost labour. Though the rhetoric from governments might not acknowledge this, I would argue that the academic /think tank/thought leaders recognise the rules based order has benefited disproportionately those that write the rules. I think that China still wants a rules based order but one that aligns more with "rules" that benefit it. The BRI is one such example.
