Sadly a lot of it is twaddle, as here. He says:
“ China’s Belt and Road initiative is perhaps the most ambitious economic and geopolitical project in world history. It is already linking China with Europe by rail and sea. European exclusion from the Belt and Road project will cost it dearly. Note that the Belt and Road runs right through Russia.”
He doesn’t know anything about it!
The Belt and Road project is about linking China and Europe by land (belt) and by sea (road).
The Port of Piraeus is a Belt and Road project and doing very nicely. Last time I looked, Greece was in the EU.
The railway link was never going to be able to carry any significant volume. Fun project but of no real importance.
China is pretty well “linked” to Europe by sea (the “21st century maritime Silk Road” - which is where the “Road” comes from) and there is not the ghost of a chance that either China or Europe will be excluded from that. Conversely, Cosco’s development of a sea-rail route via Odessa, very much part of the Belt and Road, has been shut down by Russian action.
