Big NYT article on Never Back Down, the Super PAC that essentially IS the DeSantis campaign.

What you won't read in this article is that the entire scheme is based on making a mockery of campaign finance law.

About half of the group's funding will come from DeSantis' state political committee, Friends of Ron DeSantis Under the law, if you transfer money you raised as a candidate to a Super PAC it is not independent and is subject to FEC limits.

So, a few days ago, DeSantis FORMALLY DISASSOCIATED FROM "FRIENDS OF RON DESANTIS" He claims that the entity is now controlled by another politician, Senator Blaise Ingoglia (R), one of DeSantis' closest political allies DeSantis has nothing to do with it anymore.

And now we are supposed to believe that Ingoglia TOTALLY INDEPENDENT OF DESANTIS will decide to transfer all of the money from "Friends of DeSantis" to "Never Back Down" It's an absolute joke

No one could argue with a straight face that any of this is legal. But Republicans have stocked the FEC for years with commissioners dedicated to not enforcing the law. So DeSantis knows he will get away with it.

Ron DeSantis is about to make a mockery of campaign finance law
