The United States is pushing the release of details to nail down the facts publicly everywhere in such a way that it will prove the Chinese are liars. It's a lawyer's dream: a break to show undeniably that the witness is a liar and then "once a liar alway a liar" or if you prefer old-fashioned lawyer-speak "Falsusin ino. falsus in omnes." This is a gift. And if the second intruder in Alaska turns out to be Chinese too--that would be incredibly stupid--sthat would be the ultimate God given gift to break China's credibility generally after all the obvious lies. The real joke here is that we thought we could get away with the U-2 many years ago because it couldn't be knocked out of the sky at 40-50,000 feet. Someone in China just made the same mistake. Nor was it an accident that a plane rather than a rocket was used and that it only took one shot to down the balloon. That was a deliberate and public brag and a warning shot referring to the Taiwan situation. Joe Biden looks mild and plays hardball--shades of Harry Truman.
