If Taiwan starts on the path to acquire nuclear weapons--which I very much doubt that anyone there will seriously contemplate--then it becomes very much in China's interest to act before the nuclear weapon is effective and damn the consequences. Much as the rest of us did in the case of Iran. Any subcxsequent compromise is likely to leave Taiwan less effectively independent. So Taiwan won't or at least shouldn't start down that path. But how can the CCP tolerate the continuation of what is in fact a rival China? Goes against their very nature. An utter puzzlement. And the world is full of hyperactive fools....
