India is also keen to attract green energy manufacturing out of China, no? My read on the recent 500Gw target and Ambani's investments in solar panel manufacturing is that India is also taking advantage of a growing recognition that single-sourcing renewables from China (where the supply chain economics have driven down solar panel prices dramatically) has risks, that labor issues are problematic for US and European progressives, and that ongoing Covid zero-tolerance lockdowns/shutdowns are causing a lot of headaches.

I've been to India only once but I can't recall seeing a grid more ingeniously wired and yet shockingly entangled, so more power to them if they want to modernize by means of renewables, in manufacturing and in distribution.

Does China care if India steals some of the spotlight in this regard? China not only needs to mitigate use of fossil fuels to clean up its land, air, and water, but also wants to own green manufacturing. Move up the value chain from solar fabs to advanced smart grid solutions (AI, inverters, etc). It has a huge lead over India, and is probably mostly concerned with retaining manufacturers given issues with labor practices, Covid, and supply chain disruptions. I would think.
