Thank you for modeling rethinking your position after encountering new evidence. Thank you for sharing the SSE video, it is great to hear from different perspectives on those issues. I think Paul Nelson's take on the relationship between faith and evidence is thought provoking.

"The nature of faith is really puzzling because you could have the very best kind of evidence you could want. I mean, God could walk in here, be kind of scary, but God walks in, he says, 'You know what? I'm gonna make a really cool, I'm gonna make a panda right here. Bam. Panda.' And probably a significant fraction of this audience would say, 'You know, there was something in that food tonight. This is a world-class hallucination. But I do not have reliable evidence of God.'

You can always change your standard, so the question you ask is really hard to answer because it touches on the mystery of what it is to have faith. Does faith rest on evidence, or is there another part of it that is not strictly evidential?

So I frankly don't know how to answer that. I mean, I'm as certain as I am of my own name that God exists and loves me. But frankly, if God showed up, the first thing I would do is be terrified. But I'm not sure that it would have that persuasive power for, you know, people don't respond uniformly to evidence. It's a real mystery of what's going on there."
