That would be the "crown of thorns"-option then, used by Torquemada's inquisition. Only, it was made out of brass and heated almost to melting point (about 1 600F I think) before beig placed on the heretics head. Alternative there was a verion where a specially made brazier was tied to the head and the filled with burning coals.
