This is part of the problem. People are making emotional decisions based on what amounts to a very small number of unfortunate outcomes.

There is no doubt that the number of adverse outcomes deserves withdrawal of this ineffective treatment, but pointing out a few heartbreaking cases that changes people's minds, should show us all just how little actual evidence can be recruited to steer people in the direction TPTB want us to go.
