Last year, I read some random article that talked about the fact that many people wanted the lockdowns and wanted them to continue.

The gist of it is this: in normal world, some people can't compete. At all. And they feel (gasp!) bad about themselves. The Horror.

But... once everyone was stuck at home, the people who can't compete in the world didn't feel like a loser, because EVERYONE was stuck at home alone. So there was no competition. And they finally felt good about themselves.

That's one of the reasons people will support future lockdowns. To "level the playing field" so that everyone is a loser.
