But the whole "along racial lines" and/or "imposed on a racial group" thing falls apart as soon as you look at Arab citizens of Israel, who are ethnically indistinguishable from those on the Palestinian side of the border and yet have full rights. It's like mainland Chinese vs. Hong Kong Chinese; it would similarly make no sense to say the Hong Kong Chinese are being "racially oppressed" by the mainlanders of Beijing.
