And I think, if we're really, really honest, we'll recognize that TV is just the latest iteration of the neighborhood bard entertaining the clan while they sharpen their tools or spin the fleece, etc. Devotional music in abbeys etc. was just a way of legitimizing that human craving for a little relief from the labor. I loved that at every childhood stage there were TV shows and films my kid and I enjoyed together. Sitting around the fire, everyone needs a little of that.
