Depends on how you define “success”. I suspect the Chinese define it as destroying their enemies and having enough control left to maintain their power. Sure maybe they would fall apart ten, twenty, or thirty years later but I’m not sure that does us any good. The fact that they eventually will fail isn’t too comforting if before that or even in the process they manage to destroy our country. The damage Vietnam did to our culture, political discourse and social fabric is far worse than the damage inflicted on the battlefield. Sure the Chinese are incompetent, the problem is more so now than at any time in our history so are we.
