I think they are trying to play the long game and that all governments try to but I think they are limited in the scope to which they can be effective. I think the CCP wants to maintain power but that they also have a very specific goal as to what they want China to look like across all spectrums and I think they have very specific goals as to what they want the world to look like. I think the only time they recalculate is when they realize that the steps they have taken are actually leading the country away from that very specific picture. The one child policy is an example of that. I suspect if we could see an early description of what the CCP wanted China to look like in 2023 that China today is either what they had planned for or is behind schedule.

On the other hand I think in America the plan is to maintain control and that is the only plan. It’s a much more loose plan. I just find it hard to believe that Woodrow Wilson was envisioning an America where Americans couldn’t figure out if they were boys or girls, where the women were fat sluts and where the country would be majority non-white. Doesn’t seem to mesh with the Woodrow Wilson of history.
