The more charitable interpretation of Ms. Gibson's comments is to view them in the context of draconian Covid restrictions. When you've got a gun to your head, compliance may well be the least-bad alternative, even knowing that it has downsides.
By analogy: if a mugger pulls a gun on me and demands my wallet, I'll give it to him, and I'd defend that decision as reasonable under the circumstances. But it doesn't follow that I think giving up one's wallet is a good thing in the abstract. Nor that I'd give up my wallet under other circumstances. Nor that I approve of mugging in general.
Maybe. I can't speak for her. But it's one way to read it.
