The only sensible position is Agnostic because we can neither prove nor disprove that any entity which could be called God, exists.

There is certainly much evidence for conscious intelligence at work in this world, creatively at least, but such a force is not going to be as humans have depicted what they call God.

It is indeed all a terrible and wonderful experiment.
