I am not touting a God of religion being involved but I do know that the evolution theory explains some things but not others and has holes a mile wide in it.

Evolution is part of the process but not the complete answer. Like it or not but conscious intelligence has been and remains at work in this world whatever you want to call it.

By the way, Darwin proved nothing of the kind and he would have been horrified at what is now claimed in his name.

I agree with your sentiments regarding the version of God and Gods invented by mere mortals. However, that does not mean there is not a real God, conscious intelligence, force at work in this world.

Religions are efforts by mere mortals, usually men, to try to understand what this world and their lives are about. Look at it from the perspective of a child who first draws a tree - some resemblance but nothing like the real thing.
