Real ‘health care heroes’ /sarc

A little anecdote:

I help out with an 88 yo gentleman who developed a respiratory infection last year. It was an ongoing infection (the doc would prescribe a z-pac, and the infection would get better, but never fully cured. No refills allowed. Then the infection came back, doc prescribed another z-pack, rinse and repeat..... happened several times).

In the midst of all this, we had an appointment with the doctor.

She was wearing THREE masks, two regular masks and a plexiglass shield.

She found out that he was there for a respiratory infection (the same one that she had previously treated, nothing to do with Covid) and she freaked out. Berated him (again, 88 years old) for keeping the appointment and basically threw a fit.

She didn’t even examine him, but prescribed another z-pack..... and left as soon as she could get away.

Three days later the 88 year old, his son, and I all had Covid...... presumably from the doctors office.

We all recovered from Covid quickly,

And the 88 year old has a new doctor.

I’m no longer surprised that many doctors aren’t really looking out for their patients. The medical profession as a whole has lost a LOT of respect since the beginning of this mess.

Medical heroes, indeed ....
