After years of trying to work within the system of the United Nations Human Rights Council, it looks like staff member Emma Reilly will finally get fired soon. She has publicly discussed the UNHRC's policy of handing the names of Chinese dissidents to the Chinese government, and called them out for changing their story multiple times.
What really bothers me is that they kept her on a leash for so long--continuing to pay her salary, but ending all her work duties for a long time, without formally firing her.
Is there any good that will come out of this absurd situation? And would anyone happen to know more about why the UNHRC is firing her now (as opposed to last year)?
