Feminism is more a politic and power cult than a religion in a similar way where Scientology is a money making and control scam more than it is a religion. It mainly became a "religion" to earn a tax exempt status and some bits and pieces were added to it to show some authenticity as a church. But at its core, it is not actually a religion.
Both exhibit little difference in the way that they operate and control their followers.
Erin Pizzey has stated that feminism in general was all about power, money and jobs for the girls.
There have been some studies (will have to go looking for those sources now) that some people's brains become permanently rewired (read: damaged )as a result of cult exposure. There are a number of factors that come into this, but once people leave their cults, some can never return to normal or pre entry conditions. I do know a couple of ex scientologists that have great difficulty re integrating back into normal society.
Many ex cult followers also have a tendency to jump out of one cult and jump into a succession of other cults. i did that myself for a time until I learned a few lessons about myself and decided to be a little more discerning about who I pledged my loyalties to.
But yes, feminism is a far more sinister and destructive cult than Scientology, only because scientology fell out of favour over time and is struggling now simply to exist. Maybe one of the biggest attractions of feminism is with its core being rooted in Marxist ideology.
